Physiotherapeutic puncture with dry needles
This technique is used to treat muscle tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints. The needle will activate your own healing mechanism in an ultra-targeted way to act on the chronic pain felt in the patient.
It allows a reflex relaxation of the muscle (relaxation point) and a restoration of local blood circulation. In short, this approach aims to disable the points of muscle tension (commonly called “muscle knot”), regulate the inflammatory process and reprogram the nervous system.
Chronic
pain: Persistent relaxation points are often involved in chronic pain. They are in fact a major source of pain that frequently leads to sensitization of the nervous system. It has been shown that trigger-point inactivation reduces stimulation of the central nervous system and therefore reduces chronic pain.
Sports clientele
: Athletes can develop stiffness during or after intense activity. If these pains remain or return continuously, areas of tension may appear. PPAS makes it possible to reduce or even put an end to these tensions and pains.
The use of needles under the dermis can therefore be used as an effective treatment modality for several orthopedic conditions such as:
- Tendinopathy / Bursopathy
- Lumbar disc herniation with or without sciatica
- Headaches and migraines
- Chronic pain
- Plantar fasciitis
- Cervical and lumbar sprains
- Chronic pain
A PPAS approach is indicated for
:
- Improve range of motion
- Improve vascularization
- Eliminate the inflammatory reaction
- Increase muscle activation in addition to modifying the chemical environment of relaxation points
*The PPAS is used by physiotherapists who have obtained the certificate issued by the Ordre Professionnel de la Physiothérapie du Québec (OPPQ) following 102 hours of theoretical and practical training.
