Bruise

TREATMENT OF Contusion

Also called bruising or “bruising”, the bruise is an injury resulting from trauma or shock or fall. It may or may not be serious and action must be taken, regardless of the severity. Note that bruises can affect muscles or bones.

Symptoms of the lesion

The bruise is manifested by the following signs:

  • Pain at the point of impact;
  • Hematoma;
  • Dilation and bruising;
  • Pain localized in the lower limb.

The origin of bruises

Again, the contusion is an injury caused by shock. Followers of contact sports are often the victims of this injury, but it can also happen on people in general.

Prevention

To avoid this type of injury, it is necessary to prevent while following the following tips:

  • Put a protective accessory on the affected area if necessary. The tibia and knee are, for example, sensitive areas in combat sport and in team sports.

What are the various kinds of bruises?

Given the case, several categories of bruises persist:

  • The contusion of the muscle, which is located at the level of the muscle fibers of the body. It is this injury that often manifests itself in people compared to other injuries.
  • Bone contusion, which is a bone injury followed by a tiny internal bleeding.
  • The contusion of the lung, which as the name suggests, affects the lungs. It is without perforation and causes severe trauma to the chest;
  • Cerebral contusion, which causes brain compression in the head. This type of bruise occurs when a shock, very important, affects your head.

In general, it is bone or muscle bruises that affect people a lot and they are of no apparent consequence. But it is still necessary to see a doctor, regardless of the severity of the shock.

It also happens that a fracture or a sprain is associated with the injury and this rarely manifests itself after a violent blow. In this case, it is advisable to consult a health professional immediately.

Treatment of bruises: how to do it?

Generally, the bruise is treated well in physiotherapy. Indeed, it is possible that the physiotherapist performs local treatments at the site of the contusion.

Some tips for treatment

It is therefore obvious that the contusion is well treated in physiotherapy, but you can still relieve pain thanks to the following GREEK rule:

  • G or Ice: apply an icy object on the targeted part for ten or twelve minutes. Physio+ Hamel even advises you to apply this indicated object on the affected part for 20 minutes. Continue to cool the affected area every 2 hours until its condition improves.
  • R or Rest: Let the affected area rest and the injured person should even take rest to avoid further contact.
  • E or Elevation: If your lower limb is injured, raise your leg well to flatten it faster. This is what should be done in the first place, as it will reduce the volume of blood stored in the affected part.
  • C or Compression: Finally, do not forget to compress the swollen limb with a bandage.
