TREATMENT OF Synovitis
It is the unusual increase in synovial fluid that occurs in the joint capsule. This promotes the increase of in-ear pressure and thus causes unbearable pain. It can present as arthritis and usually affects all joints.
Synovitis: what are the symptoms?
It is the medical term for inflammation of the joint. This explains why it already forms a sign of disease, trauma and infection whose causes can be multiple. It results in a relatively painful swelling of the joint which is sometimes followed by redness or joint heat characterizing inflammation. Note that pain is the most common sign of synovitis.
As it is an inflammatory disease, this health problem causes unbearable pain especially during the night and prevents the person concerned from having a good night’s sleep. If its origin is rather mechanical, it is during the day that the penalty occurs. The movements made solicit your joints and cause pain. However, in this case, it can still wake you up at night especially during the days following its beginning.
Synovitis: what factors?
First of all, any autoinflammatory disease can be the main cause of synovitis by citing:
- Spondyloarthritis,
- Lupus,
- Rheumatoid arthritis,
- Vascularity,
- Psoriatic arthritis
- Arthritis related to UC (ulcerative colitis)
Then, any traumatic or mechanical factors such as shock and movements that strain your joint can also be one of the causes of synovitis. Sometimes, osteoarthritis causes synovitis centered on a joint in crisis during the inflammatory phases. In addition, it also includes metabolic factors such as gout attack or hemochromatosis. Finally, the infection which is usually bacterial, but can also turn out to be viral.
Synovitis: where does it occur?
At the knee
Synovitis occurs very frequently in the knee area. Swelling accompanied by pain as well as difficulty in performing movements are the signs. It is indeed a repeated attack in RA or rheumatoid arthritis of osteoarthritis. When playing sports, the knee is often injured.
At the wrist
It may be articular, related to osteoarthritis in the entire base of the thumb, infection, inflammatory disease, chondrocalcinosis and sprains. There is also a tenosynovitis known by the sound of Quervain resulting in inflammation of the synovial sheath that surrounds two tendons of the thumb. Very often, it has as a mechanical origin and comes from joint overwork. But sometimes it turns out to be infectious or derives from a certain inflammatory disease.
At the level of the hand
Very often, it characterizes the manifestation of psoriatic arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. It also exists in hemochromatosis or digital osteoarthritis. It is indeed the inflammatory increase of the synovium and which can cause some pain as well as a deformation of all joints of the fingers or even those of the entire hand. And it occurs especially at the level of:
- All flexor tendons: characterized by a very visible and sometimes palpable swelling;
- Any joint between the phalanges;
- The region of the base of the thumb.
At the hip
This is related to both an inflammatory disease and osteoarthritis associated with joint effusion. Different inflammatory manifestations such as the hip cold occur in children who suffer from it.
At the ankle
Very rarely, this inflammatory problem develops in the ankle. It can be related to certain trauma, gout attack, infection, osteoarthritis or an inflammatory disease.
