McKenzie Approach

Mckenzie approach

The McKenzie method is a completely client-centric approach to treatment. With this in mind, the role of the physiotherapist is to develop, in collaboration with the patient, exercises and strategies adapted so that the latter is responsible for his recovery.

The McKenzie approach is based on a system of assessment, diagnosis, treatment and prevention strategies for mechanical pain in the body.

It is an active method that emphasizes patient education and the importance of patient involvement in recovery. He learns how to quickly manage and reduce his pain, how to self-treat and how to reduce the risk of recurrence.

This method, recognized internationally, is based on numerous scientific studies. The primary goal is to identify a movement, or position, with which pain can be completely abolished.

The advantage of this approach is really the rapid autonomy of the client, through a single exercise, in his treatment plan and the emphasis on educating and understanding the client, both of his condition and of the therapeutic approach.

The physiotherapist becomes a teacher rather than making you dependent on devices and other therapeutic tools.

The McKenzie approach is indicated for all people suffering from mechanical pain in the spine (low back pain, disc disease, neck pain) in addition to being effective in cases of osteoarthritis, neuralgia and tendinopathy.

:

  • Herniated disc, disc protrusion/bulging disc
